  • How do I know when to seek  help?

Typically parents and families should seek help under the following circumstances:

(1) When a parent becomes extremely frustrated with a particular situation at home or at school.

(2) A situation becomes the "center of attention" for the family

(3) You have tried lots of strategies and nothing seems to help

  • How do I schedule an appointment?

Appointments can be made by calling our practice at (704) 362-3123.

  • Will your services be covered by my insurance?

Many health insurance plans will help you pay for therapy and other services we offer.    Because health insurance is written by many different companies, we cannot tell you what your plan covers.  Please read your plan’s booklet under coverage for “Outpatient Psychotherapy” or under “Behavioral Health”, or call your insurer’s office to find out what you need to know. In insurance terms, Lisa Pennington & Associates is considered as an "out-of-network provider".

If your health insurance will pay part of our fee, please keep the following things in mind:

Some insurance companies require pre-approval for testing and therapy services. If you discover this to be true of your insurance company, please complete the pre-approval form prior to your first appointment along with the other forms requiring completion from our office.

To seek payment from your insurance company you must first obtain a claim form from your employer’s benefits office or insurance company.  Simply complete the claim form, then attach our billing statement to the claim form and mail it to your insurance company.

  • What should I tell my child about coming to their first appointment?

Typically, there are two different types of services we provide children: Testing & Therapy. The way you present the appointment to your child is how they will perceive it.

Let your child know that they will be coming to meet someone who can help figure out how they learn best.

Let your child know that they will be coming to meet someone who can help them learn how to understand and handle their frustration or worries.

  • How can I be sure that my information is kept confidential?

As your family's Psychologist your family's overall health and well-being is our number one priority.  With that responsibility  we exceed the mandatory privacy regulations. Therefore, all personal information discussed and/or received, is kept completely confidential and cannot be released to a third party without your written permission, except under special circumstances when the law requires disclosure.
